:: for WAD ::

what a nice concert to show off the best local talents
as well as driving the message across
of World Aids Day

close to 3000 people packed their picnic baskets
and joined a rousing concert to mark World AIDS Day
which falls on 1st Dec 2008.
celebrities like Electrico, Hossan Leong, three divas,
Dim Sum Dollies, Hady Mirza
and Stefanie Sun belted out familiar tunes and stand up acts
and sharing love with all
spreading the messages associated with AIDS.

its a really good concerted effort
in a relatively conservative asian country like Singapore
where the idea of Aids irks people
and many are not well informed of the causes,
and vulnerability of other human around,
and how the disease is spread
the onset of it
possible ways of prevention
and many other related stuffs..

Isaac isn't here to preach abstinence
(its not really in his dictionary.. haha)
but I hope to help spread the message that
prevention if the only way out for AIDS
because there is currently no cure
so please,
prevent from having unprotected sex, guys..
keep to one partner,
and if you are afraid,
go for an anonymous AIDS testing
(its better to know it early, for there are medical aid out there..)
there is a 3 months window period
so do go for more than just one test to be sure
(its anonymous, no one knows who you are.. unless you are a friend of the tester la..)

and for those who think you might never contract AIDS,
please be informed..
you cannot get it from sharing of common facilitites like water cooler, swimming pool
nor sharing food and utensils.
however
you can get it from sharing needles
unprotected sex
and childbirth from a contracted mother
(amongst other says)
and NO! mosquitoes who sting a AIDS patient wouldn't spread it!

for those of you who might unfortunately have contracted HIV/AIDS
tell your family and friends
and family and friends..
please don't shun them
they need your love and concern
it is only if the entire society is kept informed
and educated about how to go about dealing with the topic of AIDS/HIV
then we can progress.
share our love
in the right way.

as we remember the many who have succumbed to AIDS/HIV
we shall come as one
to combat it
and stop the spreading.
be a responsible human being.
do what you can to stop it.
show your love.

:: the AMPs ::

was at Esplanade recital studio earlier on
for Esplanade Late Night concert
featuring the AMPs (better known as the ang moh pais)
with Eric Ng leading Ngak Ng, Jim Lim and gang
it was a night of feel good, hard rocking music
in a good mix of english and mandarin songs
new remix of covers
as well as some original compositions

it was like a family affair
but maybe due to the friendliness of the them
it felt really cosy
sharing the fun moments and little jokes
the small space made it feel right at home.

Eric started out with in informal intro of the band, and mixing the members up
and he also added that the local music scene is small
and players aren't getting well paid
thus he has to "bao" everything himself.
They were dressed casually
but really good looking
especially lead singer Ngak.

Ngak said at the start tt he was down with flu n sore throat
but would try his best
due to him repeating it many times thru the 1.5 hour gig
even Jim made of of it at certain point.

The band sounded quite tight
but maybe due to the public's expectation of them being the group which brought us
881 and 12 lotus
the reception to thier new compositions and covers of English songs
was rather cold.
it was during the band's performance of songs Eric and Jim writes for others
(like Jolin's Yi Ge Ren, A*Mei's Wo Yao Kuai Le and Ren Zhi)
that the audience was more willing to applaud.
their more famous works which resonated amongst the crowd would have to be the songs
found in the two Royston Tan movies' soundtracks.
Royston was also in the house to watch.

at the end of the main show
after credits have been done
Jim reminded everyone to ask for an encore
thus the audience obliged.

the rather calm crowd was sure glad that there was an encore
if not the 1 hour show would have appear a tad short
and was the encore the ultimate highlight of the whole show

Jim appeared to be excited about the encore
because he wanted to give a great rendition of a song which completes every AMP performance
that is "Bu Zhi De (not worth it)"
a song made famous by the group Dreamz FM which he was once part of.
Eric joked repeatedly that Jim was once a member of a boy band
and is ready to prove he is a talent
not a "has-been".
to pump it up, Jim asked the two ex-dreamz fm buddies
Ric Low and Cavin Soh on stage to sing with him
as it is a rare occasion, since they specially took time out for this gig.

the final two songs really brought the house down.
an unfamiliar intro kicked off the first song
which turned out to be "yi ren yi ban (half each)"
the song that made introduced AMPs to everyone
But this rock version of yi ren yi ban was really fun to listen to
and what could be more fitting
that a hyped up rendition of "Yi Bai Wan" to bring a wonderful
homely show to a rousing finish.

great job AMPs!
oh ya, the concert was being recorded for a release later next year
and as Eric said
AMPs are meant for greater things than just 2 OSTs
this gig at Esplanade was sold out,
a first for a local indie group
more importantly
the group has yet to have a album to its name
and yet could have attained such a result was a great compliment.
credits also goes to their good friend Xiao Han who was also in the front row
being the wonderful lyricist bring many of their music entries to life.

:: and also... ::

actually.. Isaac really isn't good at explaining and expressing himself. He has loads of kept secret which he simply do not know how to tell people. Afraid how people might have a different take on matters and look at him differently.

:: thoughts overflowing aplenty ::

hello everyone (whoever you are, sharers of the life of Isaac).

a very warm hug and welcome to the life of an idiot who has turned his life topsy-turvy, but does not seem to realise it. Isaac is officially lost in a world of his own. He often thinks he is a superstar and talks far too much, mostly at the wrong time, in a bid to attract attention (probably because he's an only child who grew up kinda lonely). He is getting old, and finally, knowing that that is a fact. He thinks and tries to be creative, but since his army days when he wrote relatively good plays (he has been writing crap for the past two years), he is, yup, well, been in a little in the dumps, reaching a big writers blog, not having inspiration to write a good play. Maybe it was during times of innocense when he could write freely without any qualms. Nowadays, he has met too many people, and known too much things, encountered too many experiences to write without any constriants. He is also a person who is very free about expressing himself to the crowd, friends and relatives. Once the reserved, conservative boy he was, oft too afraid to speak his mind, now, he is a little on the edge of flamboyance, being out loud and proud. He takes care (pretty well) of himself. And he is definitely not afraid to love freely. He does not think the society at large is an obstacle, and thinks that living a life worth remebering on, loving with full force and power is of utmost priority in a world where you never knows what happens tomorrow. He also, unfortunately, has no proper control of his wealth. He spents like there's no tomorrow (too) and often overdo it. Despite numerous warnings by his highr authorities, he have yet to "woken up" to the ultimate idea (which is probably a dead end). He needs to be horribly shaken up to wake up (his bloody fucking) idea. He knows somehow he is in quite deep shit now with some corporations with sky high (to his considerations at least) bills which he has no idea how to pay off, but there just so happens to be a kind soul who he loves and loves him, using ways which are actully quite inappropriate to sooth such financial wounds, comforting him, and making him feel filthy guilty. They have chosen to term such a procurement "love".. Oh well. Probably because it IS blind.

Isaac is settling into a systematic, monosyllablic, monotonous lifestyle since the recent exams were over. He seems to be just wasting away. He seems to have great plans for a wonderful month ahead, with almighty leading the way, but due to certain restrictions, unfortunately once again, he can only set in to the mould (hopefully not turn mouldy by the end of the next month). He does not know how to venture out of his comfort zones, to make himself be known, to be a person with achievements which is believed to be obtainable by his young man. He needs to be brave, to stand alone in the storm, and be ready to weather it through. He desperately needs a breakthrough.

Can anyone help him with that?

:: Das Experiment : Black Box ::

13 healthy young men have been selected to take part in a psychology experiment
they are divided up randomly by a computer system
5 of them will be guards
8 of them will be prisoners
they strip down to their undies in front of all
the prisoners are labelled by numbers
the guards have to be addressed as Officers
they have a set of strict rules to follow
punishments can be metted out by the guards as they deem suitable
but it cannot be "physically demanding"
two scientists from the college are the conductors and observers.

Das Experiment is a psychological theatre thriller
one has never seen before
a remake for the stage from the original German (read: very German, indeed) movie
from the 1970s based on a real-life experiment gone wrong and
was forced to be called off in 6 days instead of the original 14 experiment days

the play is put up in the unconventional space o the Pavilion at Far East Square
a two tiered stage with a balcony at the upper tier and the main stage is
set with four prison cells and two porta-loos.

as the "experiment subjects" enter by the very same entrance as the audience
the show has a freaking surreal feeling
the little auditorium seats are really unconfy and the air con seems to be offed
thus most of the time everyone is kept at the edge of the seats.
throughout the play
awkward giggles from the audience peppered the show
because we do not know what was real and not

the built up on the whole was great
at points gruesome
it felt really intense, especially in the first three quarter.

it served not only as a test of psychology for the subjects or actors,
the audience was also on a rollercoaster mind boggling ride through an arduous journey.
lightings are impactful
together with the sound effects
making it feel that each purpose action meant what it was suppose to be
to get people comforted
but unexpected twists and turns in events
created suspense
and ignited great fear amongst the audience.

the most intriguing got to be the finale segment
when all hell broke loose
and the guards got overtly serious and crossed the line
when unexpected death (finally) occured
and the supposedly fake gun began to fire
did it awaken some senses.

"it is only an experiment"
this line still resonates in my mind more than 12 hours after
nothing beats the final time when actor/guard Berus mentioned it
have it gone overboard?
have you been woken up and shaken up?
what went wrong?
who's fault is it?
where should the line be drawn?
when should have the scientist stepped in?

and.. what day is it now?
how long have they been kept?

a must-watch intense thriller!
happening till this Saturday, 29th November
8pm, at The Pavilion at Far East Square.
tickets at Sistic ($38 for fri/sat, $35 for today n tmr/$28 for students)

*special offer of $20 for each ticket if you purchase tickets at the door from 7.30pm for today and tmr, according to Artzine.*

overall: 4.5 / 5
script: 4.5/5
(very intense writing!)
acting: 4.5/5
(there were some calefares which could have role improved,
but can Koey Foo please improve his pronunciation,
even though you do have a nice bod.)

directing: 5/5
(definitely not an easy task for samantha scott blackhall)
lighting: 3.5/5
(timing very weird sometimes.)
sound: 3.5/5
(oh, the unconventional space..)
set: 4/5
(portaloos.. tts as close as you can get to a loo, ya..)

During a cold rainy day out studying at a freezing fast food outlet, really, nothing beats your loved one bringing you to a nice and cosy dessert place, treating you to a old style steamed egg pudding with ginger. It really warmed me up. Oh.. Such wonderful feeling of care, love and warmth.

:: random conversation ::

I :: Omg.. Totally forgot that Energy's Ady has a kid already.

W :: Is he older than me?

I :: No.. He is only 26 i tink..

W :: kids these days..

I :: why?

W :: Well. Let me ask you, is that fortunate or unfortunate, according to your thinking?

I :: I think it is.. something nice.. fortunate, i think.

W :: Then I am not as fortunate as him.

I :: Huh?

W :: Because the person i love has no intention of marrying me.

I :: Ady is not married.

W :: Okay. The one i love won't have a kid with me.

I :: The person you love can't.

W :: Can we adopt a kid in future?

I :: Huh?

Silence.

W :: Hahaha.. I am getting old and needs to settle down fast.

I :: You've said that so many times.

W :: I hope to be to see our child go to university.

I :: (Abruptly , completely ignoring W's previous statement) I want to eat tauhuay..

So we moved on and ate tauhuay happily.

At the tauhuay shop..

W :: (suddenly, while eating tauhuay) Eat more tauhuay, than our baby will be cute, fair and chubby.

:: sex then love ::

sometimes
it just feels like something which happens so often
that it might appear to be the quintessential part of our relationship
it seems like its what keep us together
the basis of our being together
but now
we are really stable together
words of confirmation
once again affirmed the two of us
being a couple
as we face challenges
and prolonged seperation due to work
i am sure we are already one
as he would say
we are not just a dating couple
we are "together" like..
for.. a long long time to go..
suddenly have this very weird but good feeling..

:: Jia You! ::

suddenly realise
that recently
people often wish others "Jia You"
especially for exams..
have been hearing it for many times tis season..
do we no longer believe in luck anymore?
no more good luck and all the best?
why two chinese word holds so much more significance and impact
is something i don't know
but its really a powerful word of encouragement
that's on almost everyone's lips these days
to all my friends who are starting or in the midst of exams..
and as well as to myself
Jia You!

:: Autumn Colours ::

While W prefers Spring, for the Sakuras,
I personally prefer Autumn, for the Momijis.
"More reflective," I tell him.
Spring embodies growth and energy and youth;
All is sprouting, thriving.
Autumn, on the other hand, embodies
Maturing, shedding and age.
Maybe I am getting old.

Look at those colours!
The last beauty of nature.
Before it fades away, completely.

Keat's "To Autumn", 1819
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells.

:: Sapir–Whorf Hypothesis ::

In linguistics, the Sapir–Whorf hypothesis postulates a systematic relationship

Between the grammatical categories of the language

A person speaks and how that person both understands

The world and behaves in it.

The hypothesis postulates that a particular language's nature influences

The habitual thought of its speakers:

That different language patterns yield different patterns of thought.

This idea challenges the possibility of perfectly representing

The world with language, because it implies that the mechanisms

Of any language condition the thoughts of its speaker community.

:: flawless ::

Showing gratitude to the world
for all the imperfect we have
but cannot accept
we continue on the search
mankind's non-stop seeking for the one vengence
to make this place we live better
better
best
perfect
families get thorn apart because of each other's different perception
friends fall in love because they think that it is it
animals give us signs that we oft overlook
taking crisis as negatives when it is a wake up call
prices rise to levels in which we drown
will we see the world where we have been waiting for?
look at things differently
when it is actually
just the same
what dreams really are?
:: Flawless ::
My newest ideas for a new play.
A mixed media play about our busy lifestyle
and constant search for the perfect things in life
when ridden with challenges
do we face it?
orjust think of the negative?
what's the real problem?
where does the flaw lie?

:: ignorance is NOT bliss ::

i really like to watch drama serials
especially when the story is worth catching on..
and amidst the stress i'm facing during exam periods
any drama serial seems like a good way to escape
(an excuse to say: i'll watch for 1 hour then go study)
recently got stuck watching a show which
i regretfully say
i watch it because i like the actors..
(Elvin and Rui En!!!)
yup.. Bu Fan De Ai..
but i must shout:
whoa lau!
wat crap shows
its captivating..
somehow touching
but quite nonsensical lo!!
where got so many people don't know the facts about Aids?
even if your whole neighbourhood knows
they won't ostracize you lo..
the whole show is SO exaggerating!!
Please people
AIDs is not spread by saliva
and not permeable through air
its by blood transfusion onli
or accidentally contact by infected needles..
haiz~
then again..
GLBTs have high "opportunity" of contracting aids..
lol..
mayb i should go for an anonymous test when i'm free
after all
you may be looking healthy
but the virus have been in your body for long time
it takes around 5 years for HIV virus to take effect
going into full blown Aids
and even after contracting HIV virus
there's a window period of around 6 weeks before it can be tested
now there's 2 types of test avail
by blood or by inner mouth cell quick test..
for all my friends..
do support the HIV/Aids patients in Singapore and around the region
and support the cause to create awareness for Aids
World Aids Day falls on 1 December
for the first time
Singapore will be holding a concert to commerate the day and promote the cause

:: 带我走 ::

* I sincerely gasp at the MARVEL of writing. Lyrics by renown Wu Qing Feng from Soda Green*
*he is a Chinese Major student, thus his great use of words for a song like this!*
*inspires me to take on Chinese language if given the chance, ever again...*
*and defintely, Rainie has somehow broken out of her image as a saccharine sweet teeny bopper,
good try based on the fact this is her fourth album and probably the last with her current contract with this label. *

:: stop to smell the flowers ::

Oh no. The Singapore Biennale is ending next sunday. But I've only seen the stuffs put up at City Hall. Haven't got time to go view the exhibits at Central promontory site and south beach development. Great chance wasted. Well well..

:: museum ::

When was the last time you went to the singapore museum. I admit it was the first time i went after it was refurbished. Wow. Is it different. Was there to watch Flare. Really good show. Great collaboration between two theatre companies which are completely different, but both i love. It was nice seeing old friends at the show, including my theatre teachers at different stages, Jean Ng (during sec sch), robin loon(during NS), jeffrey tan(during jc), haresh sharma(during jc). Also met brian gothong tan, rodney oliveiro, melody chen, and the list goes on.. When will i get my big break in theatre? I wonder. But back to the museum. Did you know its really nice? So many different galleries and spaces. And even a restaurant and bar with live band performance at night. Wow. Lovely night. Great performance which sparked interest in writing another play. Might be a commissioned work.. Praying hard. But for now.. Exams first!

:: fusionopolis ::

This 'state of the art' building at the boiling pot of Singapore's future, majoring in discovery and study of up and coming science and technology, focusing in research and development. It houses mainly A*star and its many subsidiaries and associates. And at the top of the building, at its 23rd to 25th story, holds the newest branch of Fitness First, which is my home club. Its the biggest branch and consist of a magnificent view of the west side of Singapore. Really. Its that tall offer such a view. Probably because its ceilings are 'sky-high, dramatic' ones. And with individual towers joint up to form it, the building is really huge lo. towers named such as symbiosis and connexis, no wonder its so fusion. And atas. Not to forget its so far off from anywhere. Can't wait for the MRT circle line 4 to open with the stop at one-north..

:: reflection ::

I took this random picture in a lift whereby it was surrounded by mirrors. Mirrors reflects. Sometimes, we should just stop, and look into our reflection, see what story lies in it. What else can we see, in ourselves, on our face, body, or around us. Reflect upon ourselves, what can we do? What do we need to do? Who are we?

:: water brilliance 1 ::

This is a new series on my Blog where i will Post photos of water features around singapore buildings i see which are what i consider pretty. A sight to behold. While walking around Raffles place today, i saw this water walk screen, at capital tower. It looked stunning. Simple yet unique. Its something like the one at raffle's city, but it flows against the rock walk, creating a different texture and feel. Really classy and nice. Next up, will try to grab a pic of the famous water feature at millenia walk which has appeared in numerous television trailers and drama serial. Pretty pretty..

:: roller coaster ride! ::

its examinations week next week
and its going to be a hell of a roller coaster ride
with many things cramped up! oh my god!
emotional and mental torture.. be prepared..

yesterday
watched Avenue Q
its really funny
and wat i watch out more is the story development, characters and production
its a great set and storyline
but i guess its a show for the masses..
noting much technocal to note of
but nonetheless
its a really great performance
since many of the show's 3 weeks run has been fully booked.
will remember the songs like "if you were gay", "internet is for porn" and "It sucks to be me".
well
i'm now listening to the Broadway original cast recording
a really nice memory of a great musical!
anyone wants can borrow from me and have a great laugh at the songs..

read a few comments and reviews about Gemuk Girls by The Necessary Stage
i seems to be a great play
in theatrics and script
but too bad..
just when i wanted to get tickets
its all sold out le!

but I'm gonna catch Flare ( a play bout live during n after a earthquake in a neighbouring country)
by Cake Theatrical and The Finger Players
quite looking forward to it
coz its really interesting to see two companies which i like and are pretty known to be good companies..
hope dearie will be able to watch it with me

that brings me back to another topic
watched Ave Q with weizhi yesterday
because someone was busy
and couldn't make it

well well..
sometimes
i really hope he can relax and take things in different perspective
i hope he can see things through other's life
who knows what happens
he is sometimes domineering
just the way i like it
but then
there are times when i feel he hould think of what people really want
and not simply wat he perceives

sometimes
i might say i'm tired
like really "tired"
because i don't just want to be pampered
i want to be a bigger part of your life
not just someone who gets your love
or how it appears to be "love"

its not easy
you might say again
you don't know what young people think
but hey
if i can understand you and what you really want
mayb you can try to reciprocate that as well
i know work is tough
and you are one who knows how to work hard n play hard
and seperates the two apporpriately

probably you need to separate your social life from mine
i know your friends
but do you know mine?

there are things you do with your friends
and try to pull me in when i might not be interested
then there are other activities
which you simply count me out
you don't seem to care about anyting at all

on the long run
i really don't understand you
your stand on things
and what you are really looking for
your fast changing attitude makes me feel lost
98% of the time
i enjoy the many things
but its the little things that matters more

hopefully
by saying you love me
we can integrate each other into one another's life
and not just say so

be it..
if we are going to live together (forever? long term? i don't know. though i know you want to.. ?)
we have to balance. merge. move on.

sometimes
being simplistic is the best
get back to your roots of being the child-like boy when you are with me
think of being simple
thats easier.. to think and do..
haha.. now i am at a lost myself.. what do i really want??

**ps: anyone wants to go Zoukout, watch Snow white and the seven dwarfs by Wildrice, First Light by Toy Factory, Lee Guitars All Stars Concert, please contact me!**

:: death day draws near ::

i hate it
i so so know that exams is just less than a week away
yet
i feel like everyday
i'm just going to waste
ya..
how sucky is that

its actually quite scary
to know tt you might not make it
yet don't seem to be putting enough effort..

i need a push..

some power hands
do your job!!

:: amnesia (-ic) ::

i tink i'm either ill
or over worked
stressed out
maybe just simply
i'm going to die soon
due to some unknown illness

i get sudden bouts of dizziness
those when you feel faint
and suddenly do not know what you are doing
where you are currently
and seem to be doing something completely senseless

that sounds pretty bad ah?

i use to have it mayb once or twice a month
but now it seems more regular
sometimes during my gym workouts
sometimes at home
sometimes simply on the go..

it feels weird and scary
really
because you are not in control

am i really ill?
am i going to die soon??

I'm still at the music man tour of wang lee hom. Excellent. Next song, luo ye gui gen, with him on violin. He is so multi talented and handsome.. Swoons.. Ok.. I shall go enjoy myself..

:: (gushing) random thoughts ::

i'm suddenly overfilled with emotions
of anger
love
pain
happiness
eagerness
frustration

everything

i've a million thoughts running through my brains now

i shall tell them (i hope)
when i feel like the time is right..

i've got a million things to type
but i just don't feel like blogging them now
so just wait
for the potion to overflow
for the burst..
for everything to fall into place

i'm tired
really tired

so it ends
